When most of us hear “learn how to make money online” we’ve learned to run the other way. There are so many scams out there it’s easier to give up than get involved in yet one. But don’t give up yet! Writing articles is no longer about getting the latest stories into the latest editions of the local newspapers, all written by well paid reporters. Things have really changed now with the internet. You don’t need to be a big name pro to get your writings accepted and recognized. Writing is a now a marketing tool. Learning about external links and article marketing can help grow your business.

The internet provides a wide range of outlets for any level of writing talent. “Article” no longer means a front page news story. It can include anything from consumer product reviews, blogging, news group information, forum postings, website content, and even content for “real” web based publishing houses.

Check out some sites where you can submit content for free. These are ideal for article marketing purposes. These frequently offer more benefits, too. You usually get a byline, you can post a bio, and you can link to your website. This is a great opportunity for some self promotion - free! You do need to write about something, though. You just can’t do lengthy sales pitches. Write about topics that are germane to your business. You will be looked on as an expert on the subject.

For example, if you are a sports therapist you might want to write about how athletes can prevent injuries when working out. At the end of each article you should add your bio and a link to your website. Your goal, of course, is to get exposure as an expert in your field, and get customers as they flock to your website.

Also check out sites that do pay. They are usually a little less generous when it comes to giving you a byline or a link.

Not many people get rich writing. Even Edgar Allen Poe died a bitter penniless man. With article writing, it’s all about marketing yourself and your business. Even if it’s not your own business! With the invention of internet based email came the idea of viral marketing. Hotmail was the first to put ads on the bottom of every email sent using their service. The idea caught on. Now, everyone who has anything to sell or promote should add links to every email he sends.

Anyone can do this. Are you a stock broker? Hair stylist? Computer repair tech? There’s nothing like adding external links on your emails with either special promotions or a link to your website.

So you have finished the content for your article. You are prepared to start your article marketing campaign. So now you’ll be needing an article outline also known as the article summary. 

But what should you ideally put in your article summary to obtain-bring it the best results from your article submissions?  Should it be an abstract or an article teaser? Keep in mind that the point of your article outline is to lure a reader or your article to read the remainder of it.  It’s similar to a sales page but for your article.  It will , in numerous cases, make the difference to whether your article gets read or not read. 

Here is what you would ideally need to be in your article outline.  First you’ll need the article outline to be about two to seven sentences in length.  Secondly, you may need there to be a mention of the emotional benefits this article brings to your reader, talk straight to your target reader’s interests.  3rd, you’ll need to include at least four to seven keywords that are related to your article subject. It might be a brilliant idea to use keyword research tools to pinpoint the best keywords to use, you may desire keywords which will help those looking, find your article.  By employing the right keywords you can simply increase the quantity of times your article is found, and therefore the number of times it is read. 

Now let us go on to chat about what shouldn’t be in your article outline. 

One, you do not want to copy the title of your article in your article outline.  Two, there is not any need to use your writer name in the summary of your article.  3, there isn’t any need and you must not put your domain name in the outline ( it will appear too promotional ).  4, you will wish to leave out any self-promotion.  Remember back when we discussed above about making your outline like a sales page, this didn’t mean to sell your service in the outline, but rather to sell the reader on reading the article.  So keep the outline copy to contain only article promotion and not self promotion.  Four, never use more than 2 paragraphs or fourteen sentences in your article outline, or it will simply bee too large and no one will trouble to read.
