An [1] acne diet is certainly an appealing idea. Who hasn’t heard that eating chocolate may make you break out. Everybody has. So it doesn’t seem so crazy that by watching what you eat could prevent a break out.

But, an acne diet is a very hard thing to establish. This type of diet is highly personal since is is based on each individual’s response to foods. Progress, for the most part, will be trial and error. Observe and make note of any changes in your skin. Write a journal. You might even want to take pictures using a digital camera once or twice a week. So if and when your skin clears up, stay on the diet you were on at the time.

Here are some simple rules to get you started on an acne diet:

* Up your intake of protein - Many dermatologists think that protein intake is related to clear skin. An enzyme in contained in protein limits the creation of oil Oily skin has always been susceptible to breakouts.

* Don’t eat carbs - Do not take all carbs out of your diet. However, you do need to limit them to about 40 percent of your diet. This is because compounds in carbohydrates can stimulate oil production. For this reason common knowledge indicates that junk food causes acne. Actually, though, junk food is just high in carbs.

* Drinking green tea is very good for you - If you can, drink real green tea. Brewing the green tea is the best way to drink it. But, if you really don’t like it, the natural green tea drinks will work. Green tea limits androgen production. Breakouts can be caused by the hormone called androgen.

* 4. Limit your salt intake - Salt most always contains iodine. This is the reason we usually call table salt “iodized salt.” For some people with acne, iodine can be a major inflammatory agent.

While watching what you eat, you should also be very careful with what you put on your face. You already know what is in your beauty products if you have acne. Use oil free moisturizers and organic skin care products. These are least likely to cause a breakout. You might want to start buying mineral makeup, that is if you wear makeup. Many dermatologists today believe that mineral makeup can really reduce breakouts and increase the results of your acne diet.
