self management more….
Before I share with you my portfolio of great online tools that are sure to help you to work remotely, I wanted to write about one more item about self management and especially to do with keeping your focus and powers of concentration
I’ve discovered and established a consistent behavior in colleagues who work on the web and I’ve known for a substantial period and I call this trait the 50 minute rule. I discovered these members of both sexes who focus and work for 50 minutes and then make themselves take a whole 10 mins. break and are considerably more effective and generate a significantly better quality of work than friends who don’t have such distinct working practises.
OK as promised here is my list of preferred remote working online services:
Google Mail doesn’t cost anything. But in my opinion the search & label (a bit like folders) functions are superior to anything I have previously seen. The only disadvantage so far is that I have seen it run quite slowly on lower spec.computers
Phone calls
Skype occasionally drove me to despair as the service quality and reliability was appalling, but all credit to the engineers at Skype now as they have really improved the quality of the service. For few dollars a month ! am able to call and conference in any phone and Skype user in the world. The current edition of Skype has a collection of very practical features and there constantly expanding collection of practical add ons.
Organising Content
Evernote has acquired more than a million users in no time at all – it lets you to store, organise and annotate any type of digital media on the web. Just go check it out…it’s free.
Invoicing, Time and Expenses capture, Accounting and CRM
You surely know that my desire to work remotely was originally encouraged by [2] Quickbooks Online, a [3] small business accounting software web application. But it is shadowed by the free edition of salesorder.com – a lead to cash system that’s as easy to use as a fork I looked at [4] NetSuite whose pricing (and people) scared me off. My choice here is salesorder.com – Go check it out.
