Symptoms and Causes of Eczema

Life can be pretty miserable when you have itchy skin. However, there are several reasons why your skin might be itchy. If you want to go shopping for anti-itch relief, does it really matter if the product is for insect bites, allergic reactions, psoriasis or eczema? Actually, it does make a difference. Please be aware that you first need to know why your skin is itchy before putting a cream on it. You need to answer a few questions about your symptoms and se if they match up with common eczema skin symptoms.

What Does The Itchy Skin Look Like?

When you have eczema, your itchy skin is red. This redness can be a light pink to brick red. Sometimes the red skin turns gray or becomes a brownish-grey. There may also be small bumps on the redness. In difference to insect bites they are very tiny bumps and also may ooze a clear fluid. This clear fluid often crusts over, leaving a translucent layer of dead skin that can flake or peel off in a way similar to sunburn.

Where Does Eczema Appear On The Body?

Unlike psoriasis, which often takes up small patches scattered over the body, eczema covers a large portion of the body. In most casey eczema can be found on the face, head, legas, arms, elbows, upper torso, and feet. If you have eczema skin symptoms around your eyes, then chances are your eyelids are swollen and you are losing your eyebrows and eyelashes. Another side effect is losing body hair because of scratching.

Is It Worse At Night?

Eczema often keeps you awake at night or becomes itchier whenever you are trying to sleep. Bug bites and psoriasis stay itchy all the time in diffrerence to eczema.
