You can make nature’s best, complete fertilizer from your own grass clippings, leaves and kitchen scraps. A compost bin is the container used to make compost. If you want to make compost at home, for that first of all you [1] need a compost bin. You can buy it form the market or you can make it yourself. A compost bin is used to keep wastage we throw on it. Around one year, all waste turn into a usable fertilizer.
If you have enough free space in your garden, then easiest way of building compost bin would be, using wire to fence a part of your garden something like three to four feet of area and secure it with wire fencing. To begin composting, first of all, put grass clippings or leaves in the area. After this you put wastage from your kitchen daily. Things you can put in the compost bin would be, eggshells, fruit and vegetable peelings, coffee ground etc. You can put some more grass clippings and leaves in compost bin after some days.
Another, easy way to [2] construct a compost bin is using a large drum if you don’t have much space, around fifty gallons. Make holes in the lower portion of the drum, and then put some grass clippings or leaves. If you want the composts to decompose faster use lid on the drum. Simply pitch the kitchen scraps outside into the compost bin and make rich nutrients for the garden soil.
One more, [3] method to make compost bin is to use wooden pallets. Make a box using wooden pallets and hinges to hold it together. Then fill it with grass clipping or leaves, and then add wastes. This way you will create free organic fertilizer for your garden plants.
Do not add much water or too many scraps in your compost bin, it may lead to foul smell. If you feel bad smell from the bin, then do not add any extra scraps for a few days, stir the compost to aerate and drill a few more small holes.
