Learn How to Remove Gum From Carpets

Here are a few quick tips on removing gum from your carpets.  Yes it can take a little while but I am sure you can follow these easy steps.

The first thing to do is to remove as much of the gum as possible.The best thing to do this with is a carpet pick but a paint shipper or a comb can work as well you just need to take a little extra caution.Take extra caution not to damage the carpet fibers or loops.In most cases you will be able to remove the vast majority of the gum and only have more or less residue left behind.

Once most of the gum is removed from the carpet you need to fully remove the rest of the residue so the carpet does not attract dirt.  If you do not remove the entire adhesive residue then a stain will appear in just a few days.

If you do not have an adhesive removal product then you can take and iron and damp towel to remove most of the adhesive material that is left over.  Refer to the link above for directions on how to do this.

As well you can often use a laundry detergent mixture with some warm water to remove the rest of the adhesive.  This method tends to work well but be sure you move in a circular motion and apply as much pressure to the spot when scrubbing.Be sure not to soak the area with the cleaner.Many times this will cause a ring to appear.
