Learn How to Remove Gum From Carpets
23/06/2009 by FeedCrazy.
When it comes to cleaning carpet many people aren’t experts. The vast majority of people simply don't want to deal with carpet cleaning and leave it to the pros.
But what to do when our carpets aren’t that dirty and you just have one piece of gum stuck to the carpet. Of course you don’t want to call out a pro to remove that single piece of gum.
Here are a few quick tips on removing gum from your carpets. Yes it can take a little while but I am sure you can follow these easy steps.
The first thing to do is to remove as much of the gum as possible. The best thing to do this with is a carpet pick but a paint shipper or a comb can work as well you just need to take a little extra caution.Take extra caution not to damage the carpet fibers or loops. In most cases you will be able to remove the vast majority of the gum and only have more or less residue left behind.
Once most of the gum is removed from the carpet you need to fully remove the rest of the residue so the carpet does not attract dirt. If you do not remove the entire adhesive residue then a stain will appear in just a few days.
It is best to use a product made for removing gum from carpets. You can find a listing of products by going to this remove gum from carpet page.On that page you will find a few more detailed tips for removing gum from carpets.
If you do not have an adhesive removal product then you can take and iron and damp towel to remove most of the adhesive material that is left over. Refer to the link above for directions on how to do this.
As well you can often use a laundry detergent mixture with some warm water to remove the rest of the adhesive. This method tends to work well but be sure you move in a circular motion and apply as much pressure to the spot when scrubbing.Be sure not to soak the area with the cleaner. Many times this will cause a ring to appear.
Make sure you take the time to fully remove any cleaning solution from your carpets. This is to prevent a spot from appearing a few days later from the deteregent residue atracking dirt. If you are every in a need for carpet cleaning then consider finding a cleaner on this carpet cleaning directory site.
