The majority of people can do something about [1] gum disease if they really wish to. It is easier to prevent gum disease in the first place, but many people, up to 80% of Americans, already have a problem to solve.

If you have mild to moderate gum disease, you can save yourself money and pain. But you need to take action right away. If you have mild [2] gingivitis, you are in a better place.

Many of our physical problems may arise from our lack of good nutrition. Excessive sugar intake may not only contribute to the accumulation of plaque and tartar but they may also offset the ability of your body to maintain the proper calcium and phosphorous balance to keep your teeth healthy and free of cavities. This modern way of eating and processing foods may be causing us harm that previous populations did not have to contend with.

Current mainstream belief is that you must reduce and disrupt plaquing on a regular (daily) basis in order to retard the formation of tartar. Failure to do this will result in the accumulation of bacteria that can harm both your teeth and gums. They have studied groups in the past, who lived more naturally, that did well even without the modern toothbrush. Their diet was more in tune with what the body really needs.

If you are on the modern diet, which you almost certainly are if you are reading this, then you do need to work to prevent that tartar build up. As with many things in life there are differing viewpoints, but for most of us, this is the reality.

When your are able to keep the plaque to a minimum, your gums may become healthy and pink again. Gum tissue that has receded is hard to get back. Prevention produces results that are superior to gum grafting and dental surgeries.

Another problem that people face is bad breath, [3] Therabreath may help with that. Smelly breath can have an impact on both our professional and personal lives. You most likely can do something about this as well.Repetitive and consistant work is the key to success.
