Can Electric Cars Be Made Nosier Please?
Posted By FeedCrazy On 15/05/2009 @ 12:05 am In Article Marketing | No Comments
Soon a lot of people will start buying new electric cars, these new vehicles are developing at tremendous speeds that people will soon be leaving their fuel guzzling environment harming cars and switching to a much friendlier and cheaper version.
But there is one downside to this all and that is the vehicles are actually too quiet. The cars are very silent so they could infact put a lot of people at risk. If you are a cyclist than to be safe on the roads you will know that the best method to use is your hearing. At the current time we all can hear and all know when a car is approaching us so we take precaution. But the thing is that with the new electric motors, they could basically sneak up on you when you are unaware and end up colliding into you.
So plans have been put into place to actually make the cars nosier then they currently are. There are a huge amount of trials currently in place from firms such as Lotus. Who are said to be testing engine noises. Mike Kimberley, chief executive officer of Group Lotus, said: "Our advanced external sound synthesis technology increases pedestrian safety, while retaining the car's environmental benefits. We wish that legislators introduce minimum noise requirements for vehicles to encourage the adoption of technologies, such as ours, which will ultimately increase pedestrian safety.”
Although the roads are getting environmentally friendly, we must make sure that we do everything in our power to keep them safe. It is nice to save some money sometimes but your sole safety must always come first.
