Installing Wooden Flooring Can Help To Create A Warm and Welcoming Home
30/05/2009 by FeedCrazy.
There are a great number of people who choose to have wood flooring installed in their homes; it can add a certain classic design to the décor of any home. This type of flooring can, if chosen right, suit almost all surroundings. It is worth shopping around to ensure you pick the correct wooden flooring for your home and the one that will last the longest with minimal care.
There are advantages when installing wooden flooring in your home. One is that it can actually improve the sale price of your property. This can depend on what type of wood you have installed in your house, as there are so many different types of oak flooring. This can depend on the one of your choice.
This type of flooring can work very well with modern and conventional styles. For example, any type of rugs that you place on the floor will work very well from a Persian, fur or any other type of rug. There is something about wooden flooring that makes the home feel warm and cosy even on a cold, dark winter morning.
When shopping for your flooring, there are some guidelines to follow that may help you to choose the correct one. As there are many different types and styles of wood flooring, your choice will depend on your budget that you have to spend. It is not necessarily a good idea, if you have chosen this type of flooring, to scrimp when it comes to choosing one; this in the long run will only be false economy. It may seem great at the time but later on, it could cost you money again. So think wisely and try to get the best you can.
It is wise to do some research before you go out and spend your money as this may save you money in the long run. There are different ways to do this; look round your local shops, use the internet to research quality comparisons and also ask friends who may recently have had wooden flooring fitted. There are many different styles and types available to suit all budgets.
Once you have decided to have engineered hardwood flooring installed either by yourself or professionals, you need to know how to look after it properly. If you look after your floor the way it should be then it can last for a very long time. Ask about treatment for wooden floors that can help to protect against any water damage or spillages that can occur, especially if there are children in the home.
When moving and repositioning in the home, always ensure that you lift the furniture rather than drag it across the room as this can also damage the wood. It is possible to fit pads to furniture feet just the same as if you had installed a brand new carpet, this will stop any marks on the flooring. Remember if your floor is looked after correctly, it should last for many years to come.

Indoor Pest Control Products Go Green
29/05/2009 by FeedCrazy.
There are many different types of indoor pest control products available depending on your needs. But many people these days are concerned about the environment and what the indoor pest control products will do to the environment and to their children and pets when they do use them. Fortunately there are indoor pest control products available now that are environmentally friendly. In the past the indoor pest control products did not necessarily take into account the environment. Yes, for the most part they were safe around your kids and pets. Indoor pest control products used different chemicals then those used outdoors.
But they still released toxins into the environment that could damage our health and our waters. In recent years there has been a green movement that has spread into everything from the materials used to build a house to the type of makeup women use. There are many different types of environmentally friendly indoor pest control products available and there is a lot of debate on what exactly is environmentally friendly when it comes to trying to get rid of something that is also a part of the earth.
Definition of Environmentally Friendly
For many people who deal with indoor pest control products the definition of environmentally friendly can mean many different things. Each person will have a different answer for you depending on whom you ask and how you ask them. Some people believe that indoor pest control products that are made from chemicals that are not harmful to the environment or do not release toxins that are harmful are environmentally friendly even though they are made to kill the pests. Others may believe that indoor pest control products are environmentally friendly only if they trap the pests and they do not kill or harm them in any way.
There are those that believe that the life of the animal is the most important thing to reserve. They will remind you that the earth is made of an ecosystem that requires a balance of nature and the animals and organisms living in it all contribute their part in some way.By using an indoor pest control products you are disrupting the ecosystem.
The best pest control product available will really depend on what your beliefs are and what you are trying to get rid of. You may be fine with using the chemicals that are environmentally friendly if you are dealing with an infestation that is taking over your house. Just having the ability to choose the indoor pest control product of your choice with the knowledge that they will not be harming the environment or be harmful to people is a step in the right direction.

UK Schools Ban Yet Another Playground Game
27/05/2009 by FeedCrazy.
Children’s playground games come and go all the time. They are made up one day in the creative mind of 7 year old and the next they are a distant memory. One game though dates back hundreds of years and has been played by school children all over the world. The we are talking is ‘tag’. This basically involves one or two people being ‘it’ and they have to chase others around to ‘tag’ them and make them ‘it’. When someone is caught they then become the person who is ‘on’ and they then have to chase others. The original chaser is now chased. It’s a very simple game that promotes agility and spatial awareness, as well as improves teamwork and of course fitness levels. You don’t need any expensive toys, and also it can be played anywhere.
The UK government howe ever feel that the it can act to discriminate and it is also unsafe. They therefore would like to see it stopped in schools. Their stance is that because the game often takes place on harder ground, children can seriously hurt themselves. They also say that the game can often escalate into a more physical tussle when there become agreement over whether someone has been caught or not. Their second grievance with the game is that people tend to get left out and this promotes segregation.Harold James from the Education Committee says “the unpopular children are often not chosen to take part in the game or are ignored all together….we would like to see more inclusive games”. Mr James continued to say that it is not something that can include those with physical disabilities as they have difficultly competing in the game.
Other games that have been banned already include conkers, mercy, British bulldog and kiss chase. It does make you question whether kids are allowed to do anything anymore and ask if wrapping them in bubble-wrap is really the best thing for them. We need to take the wheels from the trainer bike someday don’t we?

What is an IVA?
27/05/2009 by FeedCrazy.
If you come to the conclusion that just trying to pay off your existing unsecured debts (bearing in mind that interest will continually be added) is impossible within your income level or would leave you in poverty for years to come, then your options appear to be limited.
For many people, bankruptcy could actually end up being the cheapest way to resolve their debt situation. It costs around £500 to make yourself bankrupt at the local County Court, but this “last resort” action does have severe and long lasting consequences, especially on your ability to gain credit in future and should be avoided if at all possible!
Other options include a consolidation loan. You’ve seen them advertised on the TV!Take out a secured loan and lump all your debts into one monthly repayment. Not only does this mean putting your home at risk, but if you are in this position, your credit score and rating may mean you can’t get such a loan in the first place, and even if you can, monthly payments could still be crippling.
You could get a debt management company to negotiate with your creditors to accept a reduced payment schedule. Creditors are under no legal obligation to accept reduced payments or a suspension of interest in this way, so each creditor would have to be approached individually to see if they will agree to it and of course you do have to pay all your debts in full. It’s costly, time consuming and if the debt management company is unsuccessful in stopping interest you’ll probably end up being charged more in interest than you are actually making in payments, which means you’ll never get out of debt!
A better option is to consider entering into an IVA (Individual Voluntary Arrangement). This is a legally binding deal lasting five years that’s brokered by a licensed Insolvency Practitioner who puts forward a single repayment proposal to all your creditors.Within 24 hours the Insolvency Practitioner will make contact with your creditors and they are then legally bound not to hound you any further. The insolvency Practitioner will make an offer to your creditors of somewhere between 30%-50% of what you owe them and in most cases interest is dramatically reduced or even frozen. Your creditors then vote to decide whether to accept the proposed IVA or not.If 75% (that’s by value of the debt you owe them – not ¾ of all the people you owe money to) of your creditors do accept it, then it’s binding on everyone, even those who voted against it.
Because the usual minimum level of acceptable monthly repayment for an IVA is £300.00, it’s only suitable for larger debt cases (i.e. if your debt is more than £20,000.00) to at least three or more creditors. If you are a homeowner with a level of equity in your property more than the total of your unsecured debts, then an IVA proposal will probably not be accepted.Your creditors will require you to re-mortgage or sell the property to pay off the debts in full. IVAs are also not suitable for people living on state benefits as their main or only source of income, as the level of these benefits has been set to allow solely for living expenses.
If you’re not in those circumstances above, and you’re are certain you’ll be able to make consistent payments towards an IVA from your earnings of at least £300 per month for five years, then an IVA is worth exploring.Unlike debt management, an IVA is a “full and final” settlement which means that any debt still outstanding is permanently written off and you are free of debt.An IVA is an affordable and workable solution to serious debt problems and preferable to bankruptcy.

Two Money Mistakes - Are You Making Them?
25/05/2009 by FeedCrazy.
We all make money mistakes from time to time. Much of the time, we are vaguely aware that we are making a mistake, or it is even obviously an error the moment we make it. But the science of behavioral economics is showing just how subtle these things can be. Are you making either of the following money mistakes?
Money Mistake - Mental Accounting
A term used by researchers in the field of behavioral economics, mental accounting refers to how we treat money from different sources differently. For example, if you work hard to save $2,000, you might be very careful in how you spend it, while a $2,000 tax refund - which seems like a lottery win - might be treated as less important. Of course, the amount is the same, and you are free to use it any way you choose, but a “windfall” is typically treated differently from earned income.
I used to see extreme examples of this when I dealt blackjack in a casino years ago. Most players had a mental category they called “house money.” This was the profit that they had made, or at least the amount that they were ahead at the time. A man might be very cautious betting with his “own” $200 bankroll, but once he had $600 of winnings in front of him, he would start betting more and playing with less caution. He would say that he was playing with “house money.”
Of course, the reality is that once he won the money in the first place, it was all his money. He was free to walk out that door and do anything he wanted with the $600 profit. In fact, he might have stopped before he ever lost $600 of “his own” money, but this was somehow different. The result was predictable. If some common sense prevailed, he might lose only $500 of it, and still leave with more than he started with. More often, he would lose the $600 AND the $200 he brought.
You might think that this is not a problem you have. But what if you won $1,000 on a lottery ticket, or got a $1,000 bonus from your employer? You could take your windfall and put it into your retirement account or your child’s college fund. But do you really treat such money the same as if you worked weekends to make an extra thousand? This is an easy money mistake to make.
Money Mistake - Integrating Losses
This is another tough one to avoid. When you buy that new car, do you suddenly feel like an extra $400 for a better car stereo isn’t much money? Of course, it doesn’t seem like much when you are spending $22,000 for a car - and that’s why that salesman will push these things. But if it isn’t too much, why did it seem like a lot to buy such a stereo for your previous car? Just the day before you might have thought $200 was too much.
This is about the psychology of making large purchases or taking large losses. This is another classic habit you see in gamblers. $100 was too much to lose at the start of the night, but once he is suckered into losing $2,000, it seems easier to throw that last $100 out there all at once. This is not a phenomenon limited to gamblers or new car buyers, however.
Suppose you are having a new house built. The builder gets you all excited about the latest refrigerator, which he can include for only $3,000 extra. The day before, that same refrigerator might have been worth just $1,800 maximum to you. In fact, you might buy one for just $1,500 if you wait until you move into the home. But when you are spending (or borrowing) $300,000 to have a home built, $3,000 just doesn’t seem so outrageous.
You have to mentally step outside of the situation for a moment to avoid making this money mistake. Ask yourself if the proposed expenditure is one you would have felt good about a week ago. Ask what other options you have. Finally, just wait. A month later - after a large purchase - you might be in a more rational state of mind to decide what something is worth to you.

The Easy Way to Stop Puppies Biting
25/05/2009 by FeedCrazy.
Dog enthusiast will often encounter situations that are tough when owning dogs, especially when they are at the puppy stage. This article provides the information needed to deal with the issue of puppy biting. Puppy biting often starts at the onset of playing with your puppy and without your realization quickly forms into a habit. Bite training puppies can however be done in a nice way.
When puppies are young they are teething and this is a natural part of their development. They will in this phase bite almost anything including your skin and human parts such as fingers and toes. At this stage they are curious about their environment and will need to learn acceptable and unacceptable actions. This can be a tedious task to go through but is a needed part of the “how to stop puppy biting” process.
The faster puppy biting problems are solved the better it will be for further training of your dog. So, how to stop puppies from biting? Is this process hard to do? The answer is no, the process of stopping puppy biting is a trainable task that can be completed easily.
Always remember that you have to let your puppy know that your serious about stopping this bad puppy habit, which ever process or dog training skill you use.
Puppy biting is a common problem and one of the best methods to correct this is by the use of guilt. This is done where the puppy is made to believe that pain is caused when they bite. Puppy biting dogs are able to learn from this method as it is a natural part of their learning process. As puppies when they bite one another in play they stop when a yelp is heard from another puppy. Making use of this behaviour utilizes this natural learning process. As pet owners, when bitten, no matter how lightly, we must make it appear that we are hurt. This can be done by using words like ouch and Arrhhh to our benefit and even by removing play and affection when bitten. With repetition, the puppy will soon learn that the behaviour is not acceptable and results in the removal of niceties.
As long as you identify the puppy biting problem pretty early on in his/her life, it will usually be quite easy to stop the puppy biting from happening.
This technique involves redirecting the biting from you the human to some other object - e.g. from your hands to a chew toy or a bone. When your puppy starts to bite your hand, you say a stern “”No!”" and then quickly replace your hand with the bone or chewable toy. If the puppy is very young this simple skill maybe all thats needed to change and break the habit.
This guide includes some of the best tips to stop a puppy from biting that you can quickly employ and do immediately. Enjoy them.
You can locate further information to stop puppies from biting in the Dog Training / Obedience resource area of the website DogTrainingCompare.
In order to make puppy stop biting you may need more training resources and one area to check is the Dog Training Product Industry Reports.

Candles from Soy? How To Make Soy Candles
25/05/2009 by FeedCrazy.
There are nine basic steps in how to make soy candles. Each step needs to be carefully followed.
First: Measure
The first step in how to make candles (soy candles) is to decide what type of candle to make because then the soy wax has to be carefully measured out according to the type and amount to be made. For the purposes of this article, the center will be on votive candles, which need about two ounces of soy was per candle. It is always easiest to work with even numbers, so making eight votive candles at a time requires sixteen ounces of wax, or one pound.
Second: Melt
The next step in how to make soy candles is to melt the wax. There are two ways to do it. The first is to buy a wax melter, which can be found in almost any kitchenware section for as little as twenty dollars. An additional choice is to use a double boiler, which works but is a much slower method of heating the wax.Wax have to by no means be melted directly on the stove since it has a flash point (290 degrees) where it will burst into flames.
Third: Dye
The third step in how to make soy candles is to add the dye to the wax and to stir it in with a wire whisk. The dye must be candle dye, not food coloring or it will damage the final outcome of the candle. Crayons may also be used to color the candle, but it takes more time since the wax has to melt into the soy wax.
Fourth: Fragrance
The rule of thumb for adding fragrance to the candle wax is about one and a half ounces of fragrance for every pound of candle wax. When adding the fragrance, the candle wax should remain at about 170 degrees in order for the fragrance to bind properly to the wax.Mix the fragrance for two minutes before moving on to the next step.
Fifth: Reducing Heat
The fifth step in how to make candles (soy candles) is to reduce the heat from 170 degrees to 150-155 degrees. The votive candle molds should also be warmed in the oven to just barely above room temperature to ensure a smooth release from the molds after cooling.
Sixth: Pouring Candles
When the wax is cooled properly, pour the wax into the molds using either a Pyrex measuring cup or a pour pot. Fill each holder to the top.
Seventh: Wicks
Once the candles have cooled to the point that there is a thin skin over the top of the holders, it is time for the wicks. Make sure each wick is straightened and ready to insert.Grip the wick at the top and shove the bottom of it all the way to the base of the container. Make sure it stays straight and centered.
Eighth: Smoothing Imperfections
Even if the candle maker is careful in pressing the wick into the candle, there is still s slight depression made in the skin that had formed over the top.The only method to level the flaw is to hold a flame over the top of the candle to re-melt the wax. This has to be done carefully or the wick will become scorched as well.
Ninth: Candle
The final step in how to make candles (soy candles) is waiting about five hours for the candles to cool and set.Once the time has gone by all it takes is a mild tug on the wick and the candle comes right out!
